Hear Ultrasonic Bat Calls
Discover and demystify a world unheard. Bats produce sounds outside the range of human hearing. Echo Meter Touch 2 uses sophisticated hardware and software to make bat vocalizations audible. Patented Real-Time Expansion (RTE) technology makes it possible to hear bats as they fly by.

Get Species Suggestions
Receive suggestions for the two most likely species of bat vocalizing nearby, thanks to Bat Auto-ID. This powerful feature leverages technology used in our Kaleidoscope Pro Sound Analysis Software to perform on-the-spot analysis. Get species illustrations, descriptions, and more. Classifiers currently available for North America, Europe, South Africa, and the Neotropics.

Features:

  • Conduct citizen science from the palm of your hand
  • Detect bats in real time as they fly nearby
  • Hear, visualize, & record ultrasonic bat calls
  • Get suggested species with photos & more info*
  • See recording locations & paths on a "zoomable" map
  • Share your discoveries with others easily via text & email

Product Code: EMT2USBC-STD

Acoustic characteristics:

Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)

SNR is a measure of the loudness of bats vs. noise (background and electronic) in a given audio recording. Having a bat recorder with a high SNR is preferable, as it allows you to capture the vocalizations of quiet or distant bats. This chart compares the SNR of the EMT 2 PRO and the EMT 2 at different frequencies. While there’s little difference when recording bats that vocalize at frequencies under 60 kHz, the EMT 2 PRO is more likely to trigger and record high-frequency bats because of the higher SNR.

Sensitivity & Noise

This chart shows both the microphone sensitivity and the electronic noise produced by the EMT 2 PRO and the EMT 2 across the recording bandwidth. The difference of the two values determines the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

Directionality

Directionality indicates how many decibels (dB) are lost as a bat moves farther away from the most sensitive part of a microphone. Both the EMT 2 PRO and EMT 2 are designed to detect bats broadly in front of you while minimizing any echoes bouncing off your body.
