Turn your smartphone or tablet into a professional bat detector. Engineered especially for researchers and environmental consultants, the Echo Meter Touch 2 PRO produces high-fidelity recordings that contain more bat calls (and less noise) than other detectors. Listen to bats with our patented Real-Time Expansion (RTE) technology, or switch to Heterodyne or traditional Time Expansion playback. Get species suggestions, view spectrograms, map your locations, and more. Plug into your mobile device and install the free companion app to get started—no data plan required.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

With USB-C for iOS® and Android™. Turn your smartphone or tablet into a professional bat detector! Designed for professionals who need the highest quality recordings, the Wildlife Acoustics Echo Meter Touch 2 Pro for Android features a state-of-the-art ultrasonic microphone capable of sample rates of 256kHz and 384kHz, creating best-in-class, 16-bit full-spectrum recordings. The Echo Meter Touch app for Android features pro-only options including adjustable gain and advanced trigger settings – and of course, the latest Kaleidoscope Pro auto-ID classifiers for bats species in North America, Europe, the Neotropics and South Africa.

Listen to bats with our patented Real-Time Expansion (RTE) technology, or switch to Heterodyne or traditional Time Expansion playback. Get species suggestions, view spectrograms, map your location, and more. Plug into your mobile device and install the free companion app to begin using—no data plan required.

Record More Bats & Reduce Unwanted Noise
Capture high-quality recordings superior to those generated by more expensive bat detectors. A low-noise microphone, ultrasonic horn, and sophisticated technology significantly reduce unwanted noise (e.g., electronic “hiss,” recording echoes, and ambient sound) and eliminate recordings that don’t include bat sounds.

Get Suggested Bat Species in Seconds
Advanced algorithms display the most likely species of bat vocalizing nearby. Currently, Bat Auto-ID can identify species from North America, Europe, South Africa, and the Neotropics.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:

  • Detect, hear, & record ultrasonic bat vocalizations up to 192kHz
Customize trigger settings & adjust gain & sample rate to minimize unwanted noise in your recordings
  • View a real-time spectrogram via the free app
  • See recording locations & paths on a "zoomable" map
  • Share recordings instantly via text & email

Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)

SNR is a measure of the loudness of bats vs. noise (background and electronic) in a given audio recording. Having a bat recorder with a high SNR is preferable, as it allows you to capture the vocalizations of quiet or distant bats. This chart compares the SNR of the EMT 2 PRO and the EMT 2 at different frequencies. While there’s little difference when recording bats that vocalize at frequencies under 60 kHz, the EMT 2 PRO is more likely to trigger and record high-frequency bats because of the higher SNR.

Sensitivity & Noise

This chart shows both the microphone sensitivity and the electronic noise produced by the EMT 2 PRO and the EMT 2 across the recording bandwidth. The difference of the two values determines the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

Directionality

Directionality indicates how many decibels (dB) are lost as a bat moves farther away from the most sensitive part of a microphone. Both the EMT 2 PRO and EMT 2 are designed to detect bats broadly in front of you while minimizing any echoes bouncing off your body.
