Designed by ornithologists, these are concrete birdhouses for three nesting pairs of house martins (Delichon urbicum). House martins are commonly mistaken for swallows and are called Jiřičky in Czech. The new attractive design and high-quality workmanship are readily accepted by house martins, which often lose traditional nests due to plastic windows and silicone plaster that cannot hold the weight of a nest or may fall with chicks. This artificial nest provides a safe and durable alternative.

Installation: It is important to hide the birdhouse from above under a cornice, eave, or at least in the corner of a window. House martins only occupy nests in this position, for protection against predators, sun, and rain. The birdhouses can be mounted using the included screws in two ways:

1. The first method involves screwing three metal eyelets at the back into the prepared holes. Then, drill a 10mm hole in the wall with a drill bit, insert the anchor and screw in the hook. The birdhouse can be hung on these hooks. If attaching to a panel or brick, use anchors. If attaching to a wooden wall, an anchor is not necessary.
2. If the birdhouse does not need to be hung, it can also be screwed through the board via two prepared holes. Again, use anchors and screws with a 8cm washer. If attaching to a panel or brick, use anchors. If attaching to a wooden wall, an anchor is not necessary. For more information on installation, see our BLOG.

WARNING! If you find during installation that the substrate is not solid, adjust the anchoring accordingly. Use longer screws, multiple screws, or chemical anchors if necessary.

The minimum height for placing the birdhouse should be 4 meters above the ground. There is an opening at the back for cleaning, if necessary, but it is not necessary to do so. The openings on the birdhouses face the wall, so the chicks' droppings should not soil the wall if the birdhouse is mounted on a flat wall or under a cornice.
